Lahinch-based HRLocker has won the Irish Enterprise Award for ‘BEST HR SOFTWARE COMPANY 2017’ in a contest sponsored by the Worldwide Business Review magazine.
The West Coast company, now with 13 employees and listing clients such as Ryanair, help growing companies save time and money with their staff and People Management automation software.
CEO Adam Coleman, the man behind the Silicon Village initiative to encourage other cloud computing start-ups to move to Lahinch for a new way of living and working near the surf and national parks of the stunning Mid-West, has led the company through impressive growth.
Now with over 300 customers in over 40 countries worldwide, HRLocker is a beacon for establishing Lahinch as a seaside tech hub.
‘We’re seriously proud of this award and recognition for how a small company can grow past the start-up phase and scale away from the capital and typical tech hotspots’ explained Coleman, whose background is in HR, which gave them an advantage in building the ideal product for busy company owners, office managers or HR professionals to manage their workforce.
‘When we brought HRLocker to Lahinch back in 2013 people quite simply thought we were mad. That or they thought we’d spend more time surfing than working! I think the results speak for themselves – although, in fairness, we’ve caught some nice waves along the way too!
‘Since then we’ve attracted serious talent from locally, all over the country – and further afield. We’re proof that if you offer a rich work/life balance that skilled workers will up-sticks and move to rural or coastal areas and create great things together. Plus we’re showing that County Clare has talent!
HRLocker offers awesome and personal backup. We call it superhero support! That and a safe, secure and easy-to-use product for managing time off, training, the full recruitment process, onboarding, and more. Perfect for growing companies.
HRLocker frees them up time and money away from spreadsheets or outdated paper systems for managing their teams.
‘We specialise in the emerging tech, not-for-profit and professional services sectors – and offer a special discount to charities.
‘Most of our customers are from 5-500-employee organisations, largely in the UK. But we have a few enterprise-level customers too and are particularly proud of our domestic ‘trophy clients’ with Irish success stories from the likes of Ryanair, Teamwork, Dubarry, HotPress, Brown Bag Films, IBEC, Munster Rugby and so on.
‘We also offer free first-call HR advice to clients and I’m always open to a chat with anyone to hear about their businesses and to share our experience, even when they’re just on a free trial – and often even before that.
‘We’d like nothing more than to see other businesses relocate to or kickstart their journey here in Lahinch and will always give whatever support we can to those who come here with a dream, as we did.’
